Windows won't get past XP screen:

Boot computer with Windows XP CD. Select Windows Recovery Console (Further Info - http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/win_xp_rec.htm).
At Prompt type what's in bold: hit enterkey for <enter>

C:\windows> cd system32 <enter>
C:\windows\system32> copy userinit.exe wsaupdater.exe <enter>

1 file should be copied , now REBOOT - boot from the hard drive
Then goto
Start < run < regedit
go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\windowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon and change Userinit to C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe
